Hoopers Island is a string of three islands extending southward into the Chesapeake Bay in southern Dorchester County, connected by causeways and accessible via Maryland Route 335. With a combined population of a few hundred year-round residents, the islands represent one of the most isolated and authentic watermen's communities remaining on the Bay. Crabbing, oystering, and fishing continue as primary industries, supported by Hoopers Island General Store, Old Salty's Restaurant, and a handful of marine-related businesses.
