Trappe is a small historic town in eastern Talbot County with a population of roughly 1,100, situated along the La Trappe Creek a few miles southeast of Easton. Founded in the 17th century and incorporated in 1856, it is home to the Old Trinity Episcopal Church, built around 1675 and believed to be the oldest Episcopal church still in continuous use in the United States. The surrounding area supports agriculture, small contractors, and professional services, with proximity to Easton drawing residents to its commercial core for larger retail needs. Trappe is also home to Chesapeake Conservancy, a national conservation organization working to protect the Bay watershed.
